Greeter

Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Greeters help ensure visitors entering the Center receive a warm welcome and positive first impression. Their presence helps create the friendly, inviting atmosphere that is an important part of the Meridian Senior Center Experience. This is an active position that requires the ability to remain on your feet for the duration of the shift. Volunteers may commit to a regular weekly schedule or serve as substitutes when needed.

Center Readiness Steward
Arrival time: 8:30 AM. The goal of this position is the help ensure visitors, volunteers. and Activity Leads arrive to a center that is clean, organized, prepared, and welcoming. This is an active position that may require extended periods of standing and walking, as well as light cleaning, bending, reaching, and moving chairs or other light weight items.
Lunch Sign In
Monday - Friday 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
This position helps create an efficient flow into the dining room while ensuring visitors feel welcomed, informed, and comfortable from the moment they arrive for lunch. Volunteers will connect visitors with the Lobby/Lunch Host to explain suggested donation box and help them find seating. The Sign-In volunteer may provide assistance as needed if Lunch Host is unavailable. ​

Monday - Friday 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Volunteers help turn generously donated items into financial support for the Center while providing visitors with an enjoyable and affordable shopping experience. Cashier positions require a background check. Additional hours are available twice monthly before Bingo.

Volunteers make sure visitors don't feel lost or unsure of what to do. By providing personal attention and introductions, volunteers help newcomers feel welcomed, connected, and part of the Center community. This is an active position that requires the ability to remain on your feet for the duration of the shift.

Volunteers help make daily meal service possible by providing the hands-on support needed to serve our members efficiently, safely, and with care while creating an enjoyable and welcoming dining environment. This is an active position and requires the ability to remain on your feet for much of the shift
Special Events
Special Events
Day-of-Event volunteers provide additional hands and energy needed to successfully execute events. Their support allows the Center to host meaningful experiences for visitors while helping fundraising events generate critical support for the Center. Events can be fast-paced and may involve extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, carrying, or other physically active tasks.

Bingo
Volunteers help make one of the Centers important fundraising programs possible. Their service not only supports an enjoyable social activity for players but also helps generate revenue that supports the Center's programs and operations. Cashier positions require a background check.

Successful events and fundraisers require committed volunteers working behind the scenes. Volunteers help increase the Center's fundraising capacity, build community partnerships, and create successful events that support both the Center's mission and financial sustainability.
Clerical Support
Clerical Support
By assisting with time-consuming administration and organizational tasks, volunteers allow staff to dedicate more time to members, programs, services, and other Center priorities. Tasks may include assembling monthly activity calendars and newsletters, preparing mailings or informational materials, organizing documents and supplies, data entry, filing, and assisting with other projects as needed.

​Volunteers provide the knowledge, leadership, and enthusiasm that make many of the Center's programs possible. By sharing their skills, interests, and time, they provide opportunities for members to remain active, learn, socialize, build friendships, and stay connected to their community. Depending on the activity, this role may involve standing for extened periods of time or other physical activity. Volunteers are asked to commit to a consitent weekly shift.

Activity Hosts provide the organizational and logistical support that allows Activity Leads to focus on leading their programs. Their assistance helps activities begin on time, keeps participation records accurate, and creates an organized and welcoming experience for members. Activity Hosts help identify needs or concerns during activities and communicate them to the appropriate staff member.

Board of Directors
Board Meetings: 4th Tuesday every month, in person or online. Additional meeting, committee, event, and activity times vary.
Though responsible governance, financial stewardship, strategic leadership, advocacy, and community engagement, Board Members help ensure the Meridian Senior Center remains strong, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the community it serves.

Volunteers help extend the Center's reach beyond our building, increasing community awareness of programs, services, activities, and events by helping connect more seniors and community members with the Center. Volunteers should be comfortable driving, organizing materials, following a delivery route, and making multiple stops.
